Class Descriptions
Gardening
Students will learn the foundations of growing their own food through hands-on gardening experiences. This class explores soil health, planting seasons, seed starting, composting, and caring for fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Students will work together to cultivate raised beds and keep a weekly garden journal. A perfect blend of science, stewardship, and outdoor learning.
Farm-to-Table Culinary Class
In this engaging, interactive course, students will discover how fresh ingredients make healthy, delicious meals. Using garden harvests grown during their very own Valor Academy SRB gardening class and other local produce, students will learn knife skills, cooking basics, and simple recipes they can recreate at home. Lessons highlight nutrition, seasonal cooking, and the joy of preparing food for others. This class culminates in a student-prepared farm-to-table meal.
Leadership
This leadership development course equips students with confidence, communication skills, and practical strategies for inspiring others. Through discussions, role-play, real-world scenarios, and project-based learning, students will explore topics such as initiative, integrity, teamwork, problem-solving, and servant leadership.
Entrepreneurship
Students will step into the world of business by creating and developing their own product or service idea. This hands-on class introduces branding, budgeting, marketing, customer experience, and planning. Students will work toward building a simple business plan and presenting their concept to the class.
Voice, Piano, and Guitar Lessons
Students will receive personalized instruction to grow their musical abilities in voice, piano, or guitar. Lessons focus on technique, musicianship, ear training, and building confidence. Whether students are beginners or continuing musicians, they’ll receive supportive, tailored guidance and opportunities to perform throughout the year.
Worship Band Lessons / Practice
Designed for musicians who want to grow in worship leadership, this class offers skill development in vocals, guitar, bass, piano, drums, and sound. Students learn how to rehearse as a team, follow chord charts, blend musically, and lead others with humility and excellence. Regular practice sessions build unity, confidence, and readiness for live worship opportunities.
Bible Studies
Students will explore Scripture through guided lessons, discussion, and personal application. Each week focuses on themes of faith, identity, wisdom, and living out biblical principles. This class encourages students to ask questions, grow spiritually, and deepen their understanding of God’s Word in a supportive community.
Independent Learning
Independent learning provides students with structured time to work on assignments, pursue personal academic goals, or explore areas of individual interest. A quiet, focused environment allows students to read, research, complete coursework, or develop independent projects at their own pace. An instructor is present to offer guidance, answer questions, and help students build self-management and study skills. This class supports responsibility, autonomy, and confidence while giving students the freedom to take ownership of their education.
Collaborative Learning
This class encourages students to think critically and work together to solve challenges, complete projects, and discuss meaningful ideas. Activities include team problem-solving, group presentations, academic exploration, and creative tasks. Students grow in communication, flexibility, and shared responsibility while discovering the joy of learning together.
Time Management Application
Students will learn practical strategies for planning, prioritizing, and organizing their responsibilities.Topics include goal setting, scheduling, study habits, task management, and building healthy routines. Students will apply these skills weekly using planners or digital tools to help them succeed academically and personally.
Speech
This class equips students with the skills and confidence to speak clearly and effectively in front of others. Through instruction, practice, and constructive feedback, students will learn speech writing, storytelling, body language, vocal expression, and audience engagement. By the end of the course, each student will deliver prepared and impromptu speeches.
Christ-Centered Theater Program
Description: God has uniquely gifted each person to bear his image and to display his glory and his gospel to the world. Performing arts are powerful way to do this. This theatre class is designed to help students discover and grow their unique God-given talents and interests in theater and to learn how their gifts work together with others to function beautifully as a whole. Classes will be designed make the Bible come alive through student-led interests in acting, singing and dancing, powerful storytelling, set and costume design, creative writing, and marketing. Students will work collaboratively to present an end of semester theater production as their capstone event.
Valor Academy SRB will be adding additional classes in Fall 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.
